KARMALETA “KC'“ MOSLEY

My work in DEIJ is informed by two central questions:

“How do we live in community in a way that we treat each other with respect and dignity, taking responsibility to keep each other whole?”

“How do we ensure that all people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential and self-expression? “

KC Mosley is a leading DEI expert who has spent more than 30 years addressing business and diversity challenges in the US and Canada.  Her many leadership roles in corporations, universities, government, and community organizations have made her a powerful strategist, consultant, presenter, and facilitator.

KC is a pioneer in the field. Her roots in diversity began at Harris Bank where she led an early task force to conduct a culture-based organizational assessment. That initiative led to the Bank’s first strategic plan on workforce diversity and inclusion. This mission shaped KC’s perspective and management style which led to extensive experience and a successful track record designing and implementing strategic initiatives and working in a variety of business functions and multiple industry contexts.

At Harris Bank and later BMO Financial Services she navigated multiple corporate reorganizations and headed up several business units before going on to lead the Enterprise’s Office of Supplier Diversity. In that role, she created from scratch a Canadian diversity endeavor that catapulted BMO into a leadership position, while assisting others in the emerging Canadian supplier diversity movement.

As University of Chicago’s first Business Diversity Director, KC developed the university’s early business case for supplier diversity and community engagement. She went on to design one of the first programs  at a major university and initiated the development of community outreach, a variety of internships, required apprenticeships, and integrated local minority and women-owned businesses into the capital improvement campaign, awarding $450 million in contracts to diverse businesses.

The many Boards of Directors KC has served on include the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council, Financial Services Roundtable, Chicago United’s Leadership Council, Canadian Aboriginal Minority Supplier Council, WE Connect Canada (women’s business integration), and Greater Roseland Community Development Corporation.

Her passion for social justice led her to serve as program manager for Alternatives to Incarceration, partner with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist American colleges and universities in revitalizing distressed communities, training educators and administrators at the Chicago Public School to improve student performance, behavior and coaching family support to increase attendance, and assist social service and community agencies in teaching Anti-racism.

KC has also served as a Facilitator for Restorative Justice and Racial Healing, and pursued Economic Development, Affordable Housing, and Youth Development initiatives.  KC’s energy, hope, and enthusiasm are contagious, and people seldom walk away without a memorable experience.

KC holds a degree in Business and Management from Roosevelt University as well as completing numerous executive leadership and development programs. Outside of work, KC enjoys time spent with her children, Amber and Phillip, watching movies, gardening, cooking for friends and family, and being thought of as Auntie and Sister to a beloved community of adopted kinfolk.
